Clubs & Activities

At South Career and Technical Academy, we believe that student involvement in clubs and extracurricular activities enhances both personal and academic development. Our clubs are designed to complement the rigorous academic and technical training offered in our programs, allowing students to gain leadership experience, teamwork skills, and opportunities for competition and recognition.

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's)

All students at South CTA are required to join the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) aligned with their chosen program. These organizations are integral to our curriculum, providing students with opportunities to apply their classroom knowledge through industry-related competitions, leadership training, and real-world experiences. Participation in CTSOs allows students to build professional networks, develop technical and employability skills, and showcase their expertise on local, state, and national stages.

Some of the CTSOs offered at South CTA include:

  • FCCLA - Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (Teaching & Training)

  • HOSA - Health Occupations  Students of America (Health Science & Sports Medicine)

  • SkillsUSA (Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering)

  • FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America (Business Management & Marketing)

  • NCL - National Cyber League (Cybersecurity & Advanced Computing)

These organizations are essential for instructional purposes and prepare students to excel in their fields by giving them direct exposure to industry standards and competitive environments.

District/School Sponsored Clubs

In addition to CTSOs, SCTA offers a variety of district- and school-sponsored clubs to enrich the student experience. These clubs focus on interests outside of specific CTE pathways, providing students with a well-rounded education and fostering community involvement, creativity, and leadership.

Some examples of District/School Sponsored Clubs include:

  • Student Council

  • National Honor Society

  • Environmental Club

  • Art Club

  • Esports

These clubs are open to all students and provide opportunities for leadership, service, and creative expression, ensuring that every student has the chance to engage in activities that match their interests and passions.
